EcoPath #0 | Welcome and Mission
Welcome to EcoPath, a focused digital newsletter that uncovers and celebrates the most innovative founders, groundbreaking companies, and transformative technologies at the forefront of combating climate change.
Our Mission
The climate crisis poses an existential threat to humanity. When facing a threat of this magnitude it is easy to get discouraged and fall into the clutches of defeatism, EcoPath fights against this negative mindset. There are many amazing people creating impressive companies and building really cool technology. By sharing their stories and their vision, we show not only that there is hope to overcome the climate crisis, but that there is a future for us to get excited about.
These stories aren’t just meant to make people feel better about the future; they are designed to inspire. Many of the companies covered in the newsletter are constantly looking for top talent to help drive the future they believe is possible. This could be you! Or even better, if you have an idea, these stories will show you that with a vision and dedication realization of your dreams and the world you want to build is possible. True innovation comes from being just crazy enough to try as you will find from many of these founders.
Who is EcoPath?
EcoPath is me, Wynton Brown. I am a recent Yale graduate and, like you, I am passionate about the climate crisis. Growing up among Colorado's unmatched mountainous beauty, I developed a profound appreciation for the Earth as a special place. My education and steadily growing experience hardened this appreciation into a passion.
As I continued my education in sustainability, traditional sources consistently gave me answers that did not satisfy me—it would take time, unsustainable resources were too cheap and dominant. This drove me to startups, where operational time frames are weeks and months, not decades, and people believe that better is possible now, not in 2050.
I love this ambitious perspective. A relentless drive to innovate, overachieve, and break things is how we will get to the future we need. I love hearing and sharing the stories of those with this perspective and can’t wait to do so with you.
What’s Next?
What you will find in coming issues are profiles of companies and their founders. To whatever extent possible, these profiles will focus on the people behind the company and/or technology. Getting this human-sided perspective is very important to me for a couple of reasons: First, these people have worked really hard and taken huge risks, they deserve to have their story told. Second, it is the people behind the project, not the project itself, that is the true source of inspiration; as I set out to inspire, I want to go straight to the source.
There are already a few profiles lined up that I am really excited to share and many more to come! Please be reach out with your thoughts, suggestions, or stories you believe deserve attention.
Can’t wait to share these stories with you all!
